A Year of Hobbies

Learn a new skill or hobby.

That is one of the most common New Year’s resolutions.

While including this in your list of resolutions can feel great, not knowing what skills or hobbies to try can put a damper on things.  If you already have a hobby in mind, let us know in the comments so we can help make it easier for you to learn and enjoy.

If you have no idea about what you want, you have come to the right place.  We have devised a year of hobbies. The Year of Hobbies has you trying a new hobby every month.

This gives you time to try out the hobby, learn the skills needed, and see if this is the one for you.  If you do not like the hobby, you can move onto the next one in the new month. Of course, you can try all the hobbies anyway because there is no limit to the number of hobbies you can have.

January – Knitting

January is still in the grips of winter and there is nothing nicer than a warm knitted sweater.  Scarves, gloves, beanies, and blankets are all at your fingertips when you know how to knit.

Knitting is not as scary as most people think and anyone can learn.  Start with something simple like these beginner patterns and work your way up.  There are a lot of books you can get to teach you how to knit. If you are a more visual person, you can check out some YouTube tutorials.

Before you know it, you will have a blanket you have made yourself and the sweater that you always wanted but could never find.  Knitting is also a great skill to have because you can make presents for people and make the clothing you really want.

February – Cooking

Cooking. It’s a life skill that a lot of people enjoy as a hobby.

No, you don’t have to be a foodie to enjoy cooking. In fact, a lot of people who cook as a hobby would not class themselves as foodies. If you want to, that is up to you.

When cooking, you do not have to put out Michelin star-worthy food. It is all about enjoying cooking and the fruits of your labor whether it is pasta or a decadent cake.
